How to use the random team generator

  1. 1Paste the names: One name per line — players, students or coworkers.
  2. 2Choose the split: Number of teams (e.g. 3) or people per team (e.g. 4).
  3. 3Make teams: Press Make teams. Copy the result or shuffle again.

How the teams are made

The list is shuffled with a fair Fisher–Yates shuffle using secure randomness, then dealt into teams one by one, like cards. So 14 people in 3 teams become 5, 5 and 4.

Spin for captains

Prefer captains? Use the wheel to pick 2 captains first, then let them draft — or pick one person per team with several winners per spin.

Short answers

Can I keep two people on different teams?

Not automatically. Shuffle again until they're apart, or swap them after.

What if the numbers don't divide evenly?

Some teams get one extra person. Team sizes never differ by more than one.

Can I name the teams?

Teams are numbered Team 1, Team 2 and so on. Copy the result to rename them anywhere.
