Fairness and odds

  • Is spin the wheel really random?

    Yes. On Spin the Wheel Kit, each winner is picked with your browser's secure random number generator (crypto.getRandomValues) before the wheel moves, so every slice has the same chance.

  • How does a spinner wheel pick a winner?

    The wheel draws a secure random number, maps it to one slice, and then animates so the pointer lands inside that slice.

  • What are the odds on a spin wheel?

    With equal slices, each entry's chance is 1 divided by the number of entries: 1 in 8 (12.5%) on an 8-slice wheel. An entry listed twice has double the chance.

  • Can a spin wheel be rigged?

    Spin the Wheel Kit has no hidden setting that forces a winner. Any change to the odds is visible: repeated entries show as extra slices, and Pro weights make slices bigger.

Using the wheel

  • How do I make my own wheel spinner?

    Type or paste your options into the entries box, one per line, and press SPIN. Click Save to keep the wheel in your browser, or copy a share link to send it.

  • How many entries can a wheel have?

    Up to 1,000 entries. Past 100 entries the slice labels get short, but the winner always shows in full, in large text, when the wheel stops.

  • Are my entries saved, and are they private?

    Your entries are saved only in this browser, on this device. They're never uploaded to our server. The only way they leave your device is a share link you copy yourself.

Sharing and embedding

  • How do I share a wheel with someone?

    Click Share and copy the link. The list and settings are stored inside the link, so whoever opens it sees the same wheel — no account needed.

  • How do I embed a spin wheel on my website?

    Click Embed, copy the iframe code, and paste it into your site's HTML. The embedded wheel spins on your page, free, with a small "Made with Spin the Wheel Kit" link.

  • How do I add a spin wheel to OBS?

    Open Embed, turn on Transparent background and copy the link. In OBS add a Browser source with that link at 560 × 600, then right-click the source and choose Interact to spin.

Giveaways and class

  • How do I pick a giveaway winner fairly?

    Close entries, copy every valid entrant into the wheel, remove duplicates, and spin on a screen recording. Post the recording with the winner.

  • How do I pick a random student in class?

    Paste your class list into the name wheel, turn on "Remove the winner", and spin. Each student is picked once before anyone repeats. Save the wheel to reuse it.

  • How do I make random teams fairly?

    Paste the names into the Random Team Generator, choose the number of teams, and press Make teams. The list is shuffled fairly and dealt like cards, so team sizes differ by one at most.

  • What do Pro settings include?

  • How do I get Pro on another device?

    Open Settings → Restore Pro on the new device and enter the email from your receipt. Pro unlocks in that browser too — you don't pay again.
